At University I had put together a whole bunch of manipulated images I wanted to explore. Fragmented Scene 1 was a part of that exploration that I conducted in my studio at home. I tried something different than usual, oil on paper. I had seen other artists create beautiful pieces on it, plus on my travels to Europe in 2022, I collected a vast range of high-quality paper books that I hadn't touched yet. Seeing this painting come in to fruition was a joyous experience and one I will try again, no doubt.
About Fragmented Scene 1?
Fragmented Scene 1 represents a comparator collage of a technological society to one without. A slower pace of living, to one of instantaneity. These fragments explore how different eras can live simultaneously within each other yet raise questions as to whether that is still possible.
